Since 1985
I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University and began my engineering career in Nashville. I moved around a bit to learn different techniques. In those days they way they recorded in Nashville was different than Los Angeles. I was learning my craft from other engineers who had learned from the greats before them.
Eventually I wound up back in Nashville and got the opportunity to work with Johnny Sandlin. I would continue to work with Johnny through the 90s and into the 2000s. With Johnny I engineered records and other recordings for artist such as Gregg Allman, Widespread Panic, Dickey Betts, Chuck Leavell, Johnny Jenkins, Aquarium Rescue Unit, The Fiji Mariners, Oteil Burbridge and many others.
I’ve also recorded and mixed records for Robert Earl Keen, (Bigger Piece of Sky, Gringo Honeymoon), Nanci Griffith and did a considerable amount of production and demo recording with Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings at Almo Irving Music in Nashville.
Working in Nashville exposed me to working with legendary writers, producers and artists and I did my share of demo work for up and coming songwriters, most notable, Craig Wisemen. I recorded his first writer session in Nashville with Almo Irving music and a little studio on 17th Ave.
I also recorded several projects with a young producers who would move on to greater things such as Michael Knox
Today I record and produce music in my home studio in Hixson, Tennessee. Take a listen to my work and if you’d like to work together on a project get in touch.
